PHOTOS: Australian Soldiers Fire EF88 Austeyr

Australian soldiers with Task Group Taji conducted a range shoot with their EF88 Austeyr assault rifles at Camp Taji, Iraq on June 16th, 2018. The soldiers conducted the range shoot to maintain their weapon proficiency while on deployment to Iraq.

The Australian Defence Force’s new EF88 Austeyr rifle is replacing the older model F88 Austeyr. The new rifle offers improved accuracy, stability, ergonomics and more mounting options for ancillary devices. The 5.56mm caliber weapon has a 30 round magazine and can fire both 5.56mm and 45mm NATO rounds. Manufactured by Thales Australia, the rifle design is actually a licensed copy of the Austrian Steyr AUG bullpup assault rifle.
